At the moment all of our FRANCA Studio products are made from PLA or Polylactic Acid. We use a mixture of virgin PLA and recycled PLA.
-
PLA, or polylactic acid, is a type of plastic that is made from renewable resources, like corn starch or sugarcane. This makes it different from many traditional plastics, which are derived from petroleum and can take hundreds of years to break down in the environment.
One of the key benefits of PLA is that it’s biodegradable, meaning it can break down naturally over time under the right conditions. This makes it a more eco-friendly option for consumers who are looking to reduce their environmental impact.
However, it’s important to note that while PLA is biodegradable, it still requires specific conditions to break down effectively, such as industrial composting facilities. In home composting or regular landfills, it may not decompose as quickly.
In summary, PLA is a more sustainable plastic alternative that supports eco-friendly practices while still delivering great performance in various applications.
